San Francisco Tax Attorney Aubrey Hone

Aubrey Hone concentrates her tax practice on the full spectrum of federal, state, and local tax issues, including tax planning and tax controversies involving both civil and criminal claims.

Originally from Utah, Ms. Hone received her Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Utah in Accounting. She earned her Juris Doctorate and Master of Laws in Taxation from the University of San Diego School of Law where she was recognized for her work representing low income taxpayers before the Internal Revenue Service. While in law school, Ms. Hone served as a research assistant to Professor Lester Snyder, a leading scholar in the area of tax policy and received an outstanding service award from the Legal Aid Society of San Diego.

After finishing law school, Ms. Hone worked as an associate in the Transaction Advisory Services – Transaction Tax group at Ernst & Young LLP where she worked with large corporations and private equity funds to identify tax planning opportunities and hidden potential tax liabilities. Ms. Hone also worked for the Law Office of Richard Carpenter assisting on federal, state, and local tax disputes including audits, appeals and litigation before and against the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), California Franchise Tax Board (FTB), California Employment Development Department (EDD), California Board of Equalization (BOE), and other state taxing authorities.

With Ms. Hone’s unique tax experience and background, she works closely with clients to identify planning opportunities and tax compliance issues and her training and expertise are crucial for a successful resolution should a tax dispute arise.

Ms. Hone lives in San Francisco with her partner Amanda.
